We commence 2019 with so much happening around us. A lot will have repercussions on business and will affect how our future vision is to be set, and also repercussions personally as to how our lives will be affected.
It is easy to get entangled into pessimism when one sees countries, we have always considered as leaders of the world order, be so unpredictable in their future plans. We grew up hearing of an “American dream”, or “Melting Pot” or “Land of Freedom”,” Global Village”….etc…. This does not just refer to the USA, but to all around the world. We were made to believe we live in this “Global Village” that technology almost made a reality. We now see the rise of nationalism instigated by the migrant flow.
We have always heard of the glass half full or half empty; well it is how you translate what you see and react to it that makes us different.
In every situation there is an opportunity, and this is where entrepreneurship comes into play. It is how we can make a little difference and an impact to contribute to the world order, so when we add all those little contributions they add to loads of greater effects.
Over the past 10 years I have had the privilege of working with start-ups. They are either young business leaders or young business ideas that grew to become viable and are now contributing to Egypt’s employment and welfare. I have witnessed very well-educated Egyptians come up with brilliant ideas and concepts, and have also witnessed those less privileged have the luxury of education at their fingertips through e-learning. I have also seen failures resulting from early egos, from the speed they apply, from mis-calculation, to count but a few, but to me even these failures are successes. It is these learnings that build a stronger more knowledgeable entrepreneur/partner.
So why have I chosen Optimism as a title?
I now have almost 40 years of experience and everything I have put my mind to has been with an outcome. Some have failed, but the majority succeeded with variable rates, some have been very successful, and some have just glided. The learnings on all fronts have been very valuable. You begin with a clear intention to making the best at structuring the idea to a market need, but in a different format than what is known, aiming to benefit as many users as possible. The target being your success at having implemented it, with excellent partners and stakeholders, in an encouraging environment to attract people to help you achieve that goal.
2019 is a year where we shall be seeing many more difficulties around us. However, this should never put us off putting a little good idea into effect, or growing an existing one, or turning around an old business into a great
come back company. How? Strategize the best we can with the biggest dream in mind, reminding ourselves of the saying “why reach for the stars
when we can reach for the moon.” So, if we don’t get there as planned, we will keep trying to get there, and with each step forward the satisfaction is immense. Success for some is having made a livelihood, for others it is having taken a step, for others to further grow, or create some kind of wealth, and the list can go on and on.
So, let’s start the year appreciating where we are in our own Personal life and make the best out of it, not depending on anyone or anything, be thankful that we reached this point and how we can use what we have to take us to the next best place. In Business, we should focus on where we want to go from here, never leaving unfinished projects, but making sure that we have a plan to take it forward.
“Happy 2019 – begin with Optimism that will take us to Successful Achievements on All Fronts “In Shaa Allah””
